Omaha Public Schools and Millard Public Schools have each been awarded grants by the United States Department of Education and are partnering with the other Metropolitan Omaha Educational Consortium (MOEC) districts and the University of Nebraska at Omaha to enhance the teaching of American history in K-12 classrooms. These grants will involve local educational institutions, museums, and historical societies in coordinating a variety of activities designed for teachers over the course of the next several years. The grants also will be utilized for organizing and creating resources intended to augment the learning environment for Omaha area students of American History, primarily through innovative instructional models and the use of technology.
